1. Mrs. Torrey’s Newsletter December Reading and Writing We are learning many letter sounds and blending them to begin reading!This month we will be focusing on the letter sounds of B, R, and D. Our new sight words this month include “me, with,she, see, look” so please practice at home! Thanks for your support and continued reading of the mini-stories sent home!  Our goal this month in Writing is to try our best to write neatly and stay within the appropriate lines! We are certainly improving! Math This month we will learn the numbers fifteen through seventeen during our number study unit. We will be introduced to the learning target of composing and decomposing numbers, by using tens frames and place value blocks. We are working super hard on our “teen” numbers! Counting to 50 will be our goal by the end of this month, so keep working at home! Science/Social Studies We will work this month in Social Studies on determining the difference between needs and wants. We will also expose ourselves to different cultural traditions, especially around this holiday season. “Christmas Around the World” is our theme as we learn so many things about several cultures.
