Sango Elementary Monday, September 19, 2011 Reading Our story this week is “The Dinosaurs of Waterhouse Hawkins.” The reading skill is fact and opinion. The vocabulary words are: workshop, proportion, mold, tidied, foundations, erected, occasion. The study guide will come home today and will be due Thursday. Test Friday! Language Arts We will continue our study of nouns with singular and plural possessives. Math Students will calculate the mean, median, and mode to a set of numbers. Students will read and interpret double line and double bar graphs. Some students are bringing home tonight centers that need corrections. Please resubmit those by Tuesday for credit. Congratulations to Akiya Baize, Zaden Webber, Ryan Crosby, and Alex Bolarforwinning the problem solving math challenge. Science Students will identify inherited traits. Students will discover different animal’s adaptations. An at home project on “Adaptations” will go home this week. Social Studies Government projects are due tomorrow Tuesday, September 20. We will complete our government unit this week by studying the 3 branches of government at the federal, state and local levels. We will complete a study guide in class and the government test will be Friday, September 23. • JUST A REMINDER… • Government Projects are due Tuesday, September 20. • Benchmark testing will be the week of September 26-29. The testing takes place from 9:00-11:00 Monday through Thursday. Please try to schedule any appointments around those testing times. Thank you! • Parent Teacher conferences are Thursday, September 22nd and Thursday, October 6th. Schedule times went home last week. PLEASE let us know if there is a conflict and you need to reschedule. • We are beginning to collect box tops, pop tabs, and Campbell soup labels. Thanks for sending those in. • Your child will bring home an orange flyer for our Sango Fall Festival. It is scheduled for Friday, October 21st. Please send back RSVP to the homeroom teacher.
