  3. The Perfect System • There are 3 tenses in the perfect system: • Perfect • Pluperfect (Past Perfect) • Future Perfect

  4. The Perfect System • The perfect system works the same way in ALL CONJUGATIONS!  • “Perfect” means something that’s completed. Perfect tenses show past action completed.

  5. Perfect Tense vs. Imperfect Tense • I graduated high school in 1992. (perfect) • I went to Denison High School. (imperfect) • Remember that imperfect tense shows repeated or customary action. • Perfect tense shows action that’s completed, once and for all. • Since I went to DHS for 4 years, that’s imperfect tense in Latin.

  6. Finding the Perfect Stem Find the third principal part of the verb. duco ducere duxi doctus The perfect stem is the third principal part – i. duxi - i = dux
