  10. Objective: To recognize cause-and-effect in a text. Cause and Effect Things happen in a story for a reason. What happens is called effect. Why it happens is called cause. • To find cause and effect, ask two questions: • What happened? The boy is crying. • Why did it happen? The boy dropped his ice cream on the road. • The cause is the boy dropping his ice cream. • The effect is that he is crying.

  11. Objective: To recognize cause-and-effect in a text. Cause and Effect When we notice cause and effect in a story it helps us understand the story better. Do you remember the cause and effect for Little Rabbit’s Tale? • To find cause and effect, ask two questions: • What happened? Little Rabbit thinks the sky is falling. • Why did it happen? An apple hit him on the head. • The cause is the apple hitting him on the head. • The effect is that he thinks the sky is falling.
