Daily Classroom Requirements • Bring binder and writing instrument. • Do not be late. • No food, gum, and drinks (except water) allowed. • Do not interfere with a student’s right to learn. • Respect each other and school property. • Obey lab safety rules and directions at all times. • Clean up after yourselves.

  3. Grading • Point System • Your chid can monitor their science progress on the Aspen portal. • Points are assigned to: • Quizzes/Tests (60%) • Labs (25%) • Homework, Classwork, Projects (15%) • Assignments are due on dates posted in the classroom and Mr. Tom’s webpage • Students are responsible for any missed work that they were absent from. • Late work will result in either no credit or late penalties assessed at the discretion of the teacher. • Copying and cheating is not tolerated. Any student caught copying or cheating will result in no credit and possible disciplinary action.

  4. Extra Help • I will be available for extra help every morning at 7:30 am. • Please have your child come with specific questions for help. • Remember, there is no such thing as a dumb question!

  5. Grade 8 Intermediate Level Science Test (ILST) • Test has been given since 2001. • It assesses each student’s knowledge of foundational science learned in grades 5-8. • ILST is given in May/June • Written portion • Lab Performance portion • Further Curriculum Information http://www.emsc.nysed.gov/ciai/mst/pub/intersci.pdf
