Our Class Mission Statement Within the first week of school we will work as a class to determine what our goals are going to be for the year. Our Class Mission Statement will answer the following questions: Who does this statement belong to? What are the goals that we are setting as second graders? How will we meet these goals? Why are we working towards these goals?
During the first few days of class the students will develop rules that focus on using the commitment to character traits of respect, responsibility, honesty, and self-motivation . Students earn +pluses or points for making appropriate choices and deltas for choices that need improvement. Points earned result in lunch with the teacher and other rewards. Class Expectations…
Communication • Good Day Stamps/Notes/Test Results will be placed in the Agenda • Lee’s Lair Class Newsletter (twice a month) • Weekly Student Success Contract • Written Conference Reports sent home 3 times per year • Phone or In Person Conferences: Please feel free to call me at home before 7pm at 1-941-723-3593

What’s In 2nd Grade • FAIR – Reading Assessment (3 times per year) • Greater Participation in Reading Counts • SRI (Scholastic Reading Inventory) • In addition to District Reading and Writing Assessments there are also Math and Science Assessments (3 times per year) • MIND (Math Is Not Difficult) Club
Grading Policy 100-90 E (Excellent) 89-80 V (Very Good) 79-70 S (Satisfactory) 69-60 N (Needs Improvement) 59-0 U (Unsatisfactory) Please work with your child to help them correct errors on papers. This will help them review and master concepts. Success is determined by how hard you are willing to work each and every day. Be the BEST you can be. Report cards will be sent home Nov. 13th, Feb. 26th, and June 9th .

Suggested Supplies • Backpack • Homework pocket folder • 1 package of wide ruled notebook paper • Pencil pouch or box / pencils & cap erasers • 1 box of tissues Thank you for your support!
Field Trips • April - Weedon Island Preserve
Adopt-a-Class • Very easy and beneficial way to help your child’s class • Donations of $150 more or less • Donations used to assist with materials to support/enhance learning, field trips etc… • Share the donation with several families • Ask your favorite place of business (Tax deductable)
Don’t Forget To… • Sign in to document that you attended Open House. • Sign up for a conference if needed. • Stop by the cafeteria to learn more about the PTA and to meet the specialists. • Consider becoming a volunteer. Volunteers must be registered. If interested please pick up a form by the Open House sign in sheet. • Thank you so much for coming!
