  1. What is… Our Authority on Morality

  2. What Many Accept AsAuthority in Morality

  3. Their Feelings… • If it feels good, do it! • The Bible has numerous warning about trusting in your feelings…

  4. Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.”

  5. Proverbs 28:26 “He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but he who walks wisely will be delivered.”

  6. Jeremiah 10:23 “I know, O LORD, that a man's way is not in himself, nor is it in a man who walks to direct his steps.”

  7. Their Conscience… • Let your conscience be your guide – is the appeal of many • But one’s conscience is not always reliable

  8. Acts 23:1 “Paul, looking intently at the Council, said, "Brethren, I have lived my life with a perfectly good conscience before God up to this day.”

  9. Acts 26:9-11 "So then, I thought to myself that I had to do many things hostile to the name of Jesus of Nazareth. "And this is just what I did in Jerusalem; not only did I lock up many of the saints in prisons, having received authority from the chief priests, but also when they were being put to death I cast my vote against them. "And as I punished them often in all the synagogues, I tried to force them to blaspheme; and being furiously enraged at them, I kept pursuing them even to foreign cities.”

  10. Matthew 7:13-14 "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.  "For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

  11. Matthew 15:12-14 Then the disciples came and said to Him, "Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this statement?“ But He answered and said, "Every plant which My heavenly Father did not plant shall be uprooted. "Let them alone; they are blind guides of the blind And if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit."

  12. II Corinthians 11:13-15 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.

  13. II Peter 3:1-3 This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder,  that you should remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles. Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts,

  14. Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

  15. The Christians Authority In Morality • Jesus has all authority!

  16. Acts 17:30-31 "Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead."

  17. John 12:48 "He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.

  18. Matthew 10:40 "He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.”

  19. II Corinthians 5:20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

  20. John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.”

  21. John 16:12-13 "I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.

  22. Acts 20:27 "For I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God.”

  23. I Corinthians 14:37 “If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I write to you are the Lord's commandment.”

  24. “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”
