Who Develops the Standards • ITS Technical Support • ITS Systems Engineering • Local Support Providers • University Software Licensing/Standards • Vendors • Technical Community at Large • User Input/Requests
Recommended Desktop Standards • Intel Pentium 4, 2.2 GHz • 512 MB RAM • 40 GB Hard Drive • 15” Flat Panel Monitor • Small Form Factor • Floppy to be replaced by USB based memory modules or “Pen” drives.
Recommended Laptop Standards • Pentium M (Centrino) 1.3 Ghz Processor • 512 MB RAM • 20 GB Hard Drive • Integrated Network Interface Cards (NIC) with 10/100 Mb ethernet and wireless compatibility (802.11b standard) • Again, preference is for USB memory module instead of floppy drive.
Server Standards • Dell PowerEdge 1650, 2650 & 6650 series are the standard. • ITS works with LSPs to help determine actual hardware specifications based on services or application requirements.
