Inspired Example of Reproof • 2 Timothy 3:16-17 “How to” • Must have their attention 2 Tim. 2:24-26 • We must tear down spiritual defenses against listening & obeying God’s will 2 Cor. 10:3-4 • People are emotionally attached to their beliefs • Nathan’s emotional story v.1-4 • David responds correctly to the principlev.5 • Only after this does Nathan make the application to David: “You are the man!” v.7

Consequences of David’s Sin • Child died 12:14-23 • Amnonrapes Tamar 13:1-20 • Absalom avenges her humiliation by killing Amnon13:21-14:33 • He rebels against David’s leadership 15:1-12 • He took David’s concubines publicly 12:11, 16:20-23 (advice from Bathsheba’s grandfather 23:34, 11:3) • Joab kills Absalom in spite of David’s orders 18:9-15 • Solomon killed Adonijah1 Kings 2:13-25
