  3. The Shoshones’ territory This Shoshone family belongs to the tribe of Uto-Aztecan linguistic stock. They occupied territory in California, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming. Picture #3

  4. Shoshones’ Life • The Shoshone live in the mountain terrains. They don’t use horses or guns. Picture #4

  5. Conflicts • The Shoshone Indians fought against the Black feet, Atsinas, and Hidatsa. The Shoshones moved from the rich planes of buffalo to the mountains. Picture #5

  6. Chief Washakie • Chief Washakie in 1804 –1900 was a friendly Indian that helped the white pioneers. Picture #6

  7. The Bird Woman • The legend of the bird woman represents spiritual force and also helps to understand the Indian language. Picture #7
