Plot Components. Climax: the turning point, the most intense moment—either mentally or in action. Rising Action: the series of conflicts and crisis in the story that lead to the climax. Falling Action: all of the action which follows the climax.

Plot Components Climax: the turning point, the most intense moment—either mentally or in action Rising Action: the series of conflicts and crisis in the story that lead to the climax Falling Action: all of the action which follows the climax Exposition: the start of the story, the situation before the action starts Resolution: the conclusion, the tying together of all of the threads

  2. Conflict Internal or External?

  3. Internal means INSIDE

  4. External means OUTSIDE

  5. Internal Conflict – happens INSIDE of the MAIN character

  6. Internal – Character vs. Self

  7. Internal – Character vs. Self

  8. Internal – Character vs. Self

  9. External Conflict – happens OUTSIDE the MAIN character Sometimes this conflict is with another character.

  10. External – Character vs. Character

  11. Sometimes this conflict is between the main character and a group of people, a community, or a society.

  12. External – Character vs. Society

  13. Sometimes this conflict is between the main character and nature.

  15. SUMMARY - SWBST Someone wants__________ but ____________ so _________________ then ______________.

  16. Example Someone: Little Red Riding HoodWanted: to get to her grandmothers houseBut: The big bad wolf got there firstSo: The wolf dressed up as Red's grandmotherThen: The lumberjack saved Little Red (or whatever your ending is)

  17. In sentences Little Red Riding Hood wanted to get to her grandmother’s house, but the big bad wolf got there first. So, the wolf dressed up as Red’s grandmother; then, the lumberjack saved Little Red Riding Hood. ****It’s not the BEST WRITING EVER, but it gets the SUMMARY job done!
