  3. A successful delivery of the comprehensive picture of “the jigsaw puzzle” demand Project management and Administration as well as relevant internal and external Communication and Information. Communication and information (WP2) This part of the project contains developing tools to set up, execute and evaluate communication and information and actions for communication internationally and regionally. Actions to international target group communication and dissemination will include launch seminars, mid-term conference and a project final event. Regionally focused actions will include permanent showrooms at each Partner for field visits, work shops and seminars. Continuous exchange will be conducted on national level with different stakeholders, theme sessions with the political level, industry, financers and bus companies. Participating in ongoing symposia in each country will further disseminate the project. www.balticbiogasbus.eu

  4. The Baltic Biogas Bus project consists of several parts that together create a platform for increasing the use of biogas as a fuel for buses in cities around the Baltic Sea. You may look upon the project as a jigsaw puzzle where you can identify the whole picture first when all the pieces – or working packages - are laid in correct positions. Close integration between the different parts of the project will characterise the progress of the work. Policy, strategy, financing, regulatory framework to facilitate biogas bus use (WP3) This part of the project will develop and present a Manual for the introduction of biogas buses, and support development of strategies and action plans for implementation of biogas buses. Manual Life Cycle Cost will be analysed to objectively present all positive and negative aspects of biogas buses. Together with comparative analyses of differences in regulation and taxation on biogas and biogas buses these analyses will contribute to a Manual on “How to introduce biogas buses”. The Manual will step by step develop during the project, presenting versions at start, mid and end of project, advising on how to create strategies, policies and action plans for implementation Implementation plans The Tartu City transport plan 2011-2020 will include strategy and policy propositions to implement biogas buses. Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as well as cities in Poland will get support in their setting up strategies for the introduction of biogas buses. Seminars to discuss how the Manual will contribute to biogas bus implementation in Russia and Belarus will be held. www.balticbiogasbus.eu

  5. Securing biogas supply (WP4) This part of the project will study biogas production technologies and estimate the potential supply of biogas. Biogas production technology Experiences and lessons learned from biogas production In Sweden will be presented. Production of biogas via gasification from all types of sources will be analysed. Different processes which produce biogas with a higher amount of hydrogen will be analysed and the possibilities and benefits of a mixture of biogas and hydrogen to reach an optimal balance between engine efficiency, production and distribution costs will be conducted. Potential for production of biogas[Bosse1] Regional scenarios on Swedish biogas production growth will be made, and the question how to recruit new producers and guide implementation will be analysed. Raw materials for biogas in Tartu city and region will be mapped and a business plan for a production plant will be developed. A feasibility study on how to produce biogas from a number of food production wastes will be made in the Rostock area. A more general assessment based on available studies and estimates will give an answer to the question on the potential for biogas production for each BSR country. “The Baltic Biogas Foresight” will present a wider range of biogas productions options and experiences including production potential scenarios for the BSR [Bosse1]”Feedstock quantity” är ett uttryck som används, går det att översätta på detta sätt?. www.balticbiogasbus.eu

  6. Biogas distribution and bus depots (WP5)This part of the project will study technological solutions for distribution of biogas and adaptation of bus depots to biogas, and present an overview of regional infrastructure planning with focus on distribution and depots.Technological solutions for distribution and depotsThe integrated regional distribution planning in Stockholm will be presented. Alternative fuelling systems will be analysed. The questions of how to design new bus depots and adapt existing depots for biogas will be analysed. More cost effective options for biogas distribution per trailer will be analysed, as well as the specification for and logistics of using biogas cartridges system.Overview of regional infrastructure planning with focus on distribution and depotsAn overview of the Baltic Sea Region existing and planned biogas infrastructure will be presented. A feasibility study on a new pilot biogas fuelling station in Rzeszóv will be conducted. Another feasibility study will be made in Tartu, focusing on expanding a fuelling station with biogas supply and adapting the station for biogas buses. www.balticbiogasbus.eu

  7. Biogas bus use and supply (WP6)This part of the project will sum up operational experiences from biogas bus use, present an overlook on the technological development in this field and verify biogas emissions. The results will create a platform for specifications of biogas bus requirements to present to bus producers as well as to new implementations.Operational experiences from biogas bus use in Stockholm will be presented with a special focus on problems related to biogas in relation to natural gas.Technological development concerning standards for high pressure vessels for biogas in buses will be investigated, and a study of the usage oif Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC) in biogas buses will be conducted. Biogas bus emissions will be verified by laboratory test as well as by measurement of retrofitted biogas buses in real road conditions. Operational experiences and the outlook on technological development will be integrated to create a platform for joint biogas requirements specification to influence biogas bus producers to deliver even more value for less money. Feasibility studies to introduce biogas buses in Tartu and Rzeszów will be conducted. www.balticbiogasbus.eu
