  3. RCA Promotional Activities 1. Presentations and Exhibitions to Int’l Events • Mostly in the field of Radiation and RI application • Presentation materials on ‘RCA and its Activities’ screened • beforehand, and Exhibitions on mostly the RCA Success Story 2. RCARO Website Operation • Operated since RCARO was established in 2002 • RAS Project meetings and reports, policy meeting (NRM, GCM, • etc.) reports, RCA News and DB of stakeholders/end-users posted 3. RCA Information Flow Enhancement • RCA information kit distribution, the website(RCARO) e-mailing • service, and PC supplies to RCA coordinators in MSs, etc.

Support for Regional Events or Meetings • RCARO’s participation or support for RCA experts’ participation • in MS’s national events(meetings) or regional events related to • nuclear science and technology for the purpose of RCA promotion 5. Achievements • Presentations and Exhibitions to Int’l Events • a) Int’l Conference on Nuclear Power Plant Technology • and Safety (17-18 June 2010, Hanoi, VIE) • - Dir-RCARO gave an opening speech, and RCA Brochure • & the 3rd RCA Success Story were handed out. • b) China Int’l Isotope and Radiation Processing Technology • and Equipment Exhibition and Symposium (11-13 June • 2010, Shanghai, CPR) • - RCARO presented RCA and RCA Activities at the plenary • session, and RCA Brochure was handed out. • c) WNU School on RI (15 May–4 June 2010, Seoul, ROK) • - Dr. John Easey promoted RCA to the int’l participants.

RCARO Website Operation a) Maintenance and protection outsourced to a private professional company (Nov. 2009) - to increase security and service quality b) Integration of RCA websites (April 2010) c) Evaluation of RCARO current website for redesign (up to now) d) Proposal of degree of access policy to the MOH data developed - to be presented to the Workshop

RCA Information Flow Enhancement a) RCARO homepage function upgrade and renewal - ‘What’s New’, ‘Stakeholder’ and ‘Who’s Who’ menu introduction - RCARO banner propagation - E-mailing service recipients expansion - DB of contact points of potential funding donors b) PC support to RCA coordinators in MSs - 2 high performance PCs and 1 laser printer each to MYA, SRL, BGD, and PHI in 2004 to increase communication among MSs and RCA information flow

Support for Regional Events or Meetings a) Joint Training Program with ARCCNM - Asian Regional Cooperative Council for Nuclear Medicine - Financial assistance to 25 trainees (doctors and researchers) and 5 lectures from ARCCNM member countries in 2008 and 2009 - Promotion of proven nuclear imaging tech. for clinical applications b) Partnership promotion with PEMSEA, ACRR, etc. - Support on three RCA experts’ participation to the EAS Congress on 23-27 Nov. 2009 in Manila, PHI - Participation to the 2nd Asian Congress of Radiation Research on 17-20 May 2009 in Seoul, ROK

  11. Achievements 5. Promotional Materials c) RCA Information Kit - CD-ROM d) The new RCA Promotional Video is to be produced. - The former promotional video was made in 1990s. - Draft of the storyline of proposed one is to be presented at this Workshop.

  12. Limitations and Solutions 1. Lack of Strategic Approach - There is a need to specify the providers and consumers of RCA Promotion in tune with the purpose of publicity activities ⇒ Different targets and purposes necessitates different publicity methods 2. Lack of Promotion Providers - The promotion on RCA activities has been dependent only on RCARO so far. ⇒ Expansion of providers to NRs and PLCCs

  13. Limitations and Solutions 3. Limited Consumption of the Promotion - Due to hitherto promotional activities focusing on organizations within the nuclear community, especially in the field of radiation and RI application, the awareness of RCA to the outside of the community is significantly limited. ⇒ Expansion of consumers of the promotion 4. Unspecified Target Audience - Specified information on important end-users, such as decision-makers at a governmental level in MSs, in insufficient. ⇒ Specific orientation to target audiences

Enhancing the existing publicity activities • Regular production of RCA Success Story • Redesigning the new version of RCA website, incorporated with • MOH data, toward a user-friendly interface • Updating the database on RCA end-users • Improving the contents of the RCA website • Regular production of RCA brochure • Active participation in relevant int’l events with exhibition • booths and presentation on RCA activities • Visiting MSs to solicit in-depth communication and promotion

Development of new publicity methods • Production and use of a promotional video • Production and distribution of RCA newsletters • Consulting with PR experts • Distribution of final reports on RCA projects to relevant • institutes and organizations 3. Expanding promotion providers • Not only RCARO, but also 17 NRs and PLCCs • If feasible and necessary, professional promotional experts

  17. Future Plans 4. Expanding consumers of the promotion • Database on end-users, important target audiences, needs • improving and updating 5. Specific orientation to target audiences • Through frequent updating and adding, the accuracy and • quantity of the information on end-users should be ensured.
