What makes a successful employee? • Research by Meredith Belbin; ‘Changing the way we work’ – Butterworth Heinemann • The candidate from an unrelated area or discipline is often the most successful in the job e.g. construction • How many problems at work arise from the way jobs are set up?
Do we allow for the fact that a job needs to grow and develop? • AGR are excellent at facilitating sharing good recruitment practices across different employment sectors – AGR and AGCAS
Competency frameworks • Or just concentrate on what you are good at? • Does it discriminate against someone brilliant in one aspect but weak in others
