Tools • Definition- clearly defines what a thing is using comparison or contrast • Description- vivid detail using simile (as or like a…..) or metaphor much stronger than a simile • Explanation- answer questions about how, what and why something is happening • Narration- an illustrative story
Preparation • Step One • Know your audience (size, group’s views of the subject, age, occupations, economic status, interests and knowledge of subject • Step Two • Know the topic your are to speak on well before speaking • Step Three • Write down the exact purpose of your presentation • Step Four • Plan in detail • Main points • Method or organization • Expand your thinking (mind mapsor story boards) • Visual aids • Step Five • Write introduction and Conclusion • Step Six • Practice, Practice and Practice
