Genre Morphs (Images of Power) By: David Rogers
Introduction Some say a picture is worth a thousand words, and I agree with them. Images are much better for examining information than written pieces. Written work is focused on the writer’s opinion, while a Image gives the audience a chance to decide what their opinion is. During the next couple slides you will be looking at ten images of power that I have hand selected. Power is worth being examined because if a image is powerful enough, people will become motivated and act upon their feelings toward the image. For example, the animal abuse commercials that come on TV always show pictures of injured animals to make you feel bad and donate money. My images are not grouped into one single topic/genre. I believe power can be expressed through many different methods successfully. My ten images are composed of many topics of power, like fear, hope, helplessness, and comedy. My favorite image out of these ten is my comedy image. I love anything that deals with comedy and laughter. I am a strong believer in the power of comedy. Laughing can make you happier and in the long run increase your life span. Too much negativity and stress may lead to more strokes later in life. The process I used to do this project was easy because I didn’t do it all at once. I did it in sections which divided the work equally and made it significantly easier. The biggest thing that helped was the citation help links on the library page. Truth be told, I cant cite work very well and these links really helped me. I will defiantly use the library’s links in other classes.
