Introduction & Recap of MMUPrint at Crewe • In April 2011, 16 Mono MMU Printers were installed across the Crewe campus and then in Summer 2011 14 (5 Mono, 9 Colour) more for staff and student usage • Each has the ability to print, photocopy & scan to email • Since the installation we have monitored the usage and demand of the printers to help inform the next stage of the project.
Stage 3 of MMU Print Stage 3 of the project involves replacing desktop printers with a higher number of MMU Printers This has already been successfully been rolled out at the new MMUBS/HUB… Crewe has been approved as the next campus for Stage 3 to be rolled out at during Summer 2012.
How the plans were generated The local IT Team created the first set of plans. They were translated into tabular form and worked through in a meeting between the local IT Team Leader (Tony Neill) and Deputy Team Leader (Michael Edleston), the MMUPrint Project Manager (Dave Lee) and Print Services Manager (Paul Squires) Adjustments were made and the plans changed as required The Project Manager and local Deputy IT Team Leader met with the Faculty’s FEG to discuss the plans. Following further consultation this last version of the plans was drawn up. The plans were then passed to the MMUPrint Project Sponsor Dr. Phil Range for approval. Further negotiations were carried out along with ‘walk-abouts’ to ensure the plan should fit as far as is possible.

Appeals Process • Personal printers will no longer be permitted unless an Appeal is processed and accepted. • If you feel you should keep your current personal printer on disability grounds or a technical specialism, please download the Desktop Printer Exceptions Form from the MMUPrint Website http://www.mmu.ac.uk/mmuprint/ • Pass your completed form onto your direct Line Manager for their counter signature. Should they agree to your appeal, they should send it onto: • Hilary Legge – Faculty and Campus SAS (for all F/C SAS Staff Appeals) • Dr. Phil Range – LRIS (for all appeals for staff within LRIS) • Heather Wilson – Facilities (for all appeals for staff within Facilities) • Dennis Dunn – Dean of MMU Cheshire / Pro-Vice-Chancellor (for all Academic Staff Appeals) • The MMUPrint Project Board will review the appeals to see if a more suitable alternative solution is available. They will then get in touch directly with the appellant to agree a suitable solution.
What next? • Once we have the approval of the plans from the delegates of the Directorate the plans will be adjusted as required then frozen for ordering of the printer, power sockets and network sockets as required. • Plans will go online for all staff to access and comment upon as required • The Appeals Process timings will be announced for those colleagues who feel they have a case to keep their current desktop printer • We plan to roll-out the new printers this summer towards the end of July/start of August if possible. • Desktop printers will be removed at some later date yet to be decided.
