To introduce a semester ending project, split into pairs, and begin work on the project.
A living wax museum What do you think it might be?
What is it? • It a museum of historical characters that come to life when you touch them and tell you all about themselves
Example • This is a video of a living wax museum: • http://mrsjessicawhite.edublogs.org/2011/05/01/a-video-of-our-living-wax-museum/ • Here is another example of pictures of some students who created a living wax museum: • http://www.ctpost.com/trumbull/slideshow/St-Theresa-School-living-wax-museum-project-2032.php#photo-431509
What characters will you be? • You can be anyone from one of the Ancient Civilisations that we have looked at • You can either be an actual famous person that we may have talked about e.g. Plato or you can be a type of person e.g. a Roman gladiator
The groups • You will work in pairs that I will put you in. • You can either both dress up and talk, or one can be in costume and one can do the talking, but you must both participate on the day.
What do you have to do? • You will need to create a costume, props and a speech about yourself • On Thursday 15th period 6+7 you will be in the library where you will perform your presentation to other members of year 7 and teachers • During the presentations you will need to stand silently until someone presses your button, then you will present to them.
What should you talk about? Each group will get a hand-out about what to include in their speech but it will over these areas: • Who you are • When you lived • What were your contributions to civilisation • Plus any other interesting details about yourself
Things to remember • Get into character and show some emotion • Don’t just read from a piece of paper, try to remember your speech • Make the speech interesting and informative e.g. “he built a school to pass on his ideas to others” NOT “In his school he taught Maths, Science, History, Geography, Latin, Art, Drama…..”
