Collaborative Art Making Experience

Join artist and senior consultant, Patty Taylor, also known as Taylor Gutermute, in a hands-on art making experience where participants create a 3-D sculpture that expresses a sense of connection. This interactive workshop aligns with California Visual Art Standards, allowing students to explore elements of art, manipulate sculptural materials, and design maquettes. Participants work in small groups, then combine their individual creations to form a unified sculpture, fostering collaboration and creativity.

  5. THE PROJECT AND PROCESS AT A GLANCE Organize into groups of 5 and number each group. Select a Communicator to check in and negotiate with other groups. Group Artists use one whole piece of paper for freestanding main structure. All of the paper must be used. The second paper is divided into five shapes of various sizes. One shape is saved for the Communicator to use later. Each of the 4 artists alters and embellishes a shape and adds their shape to the main structure using tape strategically. The Communicators make a whole group sculpture and can use saved pieces of paper to create a connection between or among sculptures. The piece is presented for everyone to reflect on.
