. DIRECT OBSERVATION Direct contact is the best way to count an organisms population. If we wereto count the population of a fish tank, we would count each fish in the tank.
Indirect observation • Indirect Observation is when you estimate the population in an area. • When we counted sea anemone we estimated how many clown fish live in the area.
SAMPLING • By counting an organisms population in a small area you can multiply the number by the size of a larger area. • When we went to mars we counted the aliens in a small area and then we multiplied the population by how many total small areas there were on that planet to get the total number of aliens.
. Mark and recapturing….. • By catching a few animals of the same species in a certain area and marking them you can go back and capture them again and see how many have the mark then doing a weird math thing you can get a pretty accurate number for the population in the area. • We went to Antartica and captured and marked 100 penguins. When we came back we caught more and saw how many had the tag then we did some math and got the total population
