2. The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum Children develop quickly in the early years and our aim is to help children have the best possible start in life. All children should have the opportunity to develop their personalities, talents and abilities.

3. Seven Areas of Learning • All areas are important and inter-connected. • Areas are crucial in igniting curiosity and an enthusiasm for learning. • Prime areas are strengthened through the specific areas and should be embedded throughout. Prime Areas of Learning: • Personal, Social and Emotional Development • Physical Development • Communication and Language Specific Areas of Learning: • Literacy • Mathematics • Understanding the World • Expressive Arts and Design

Personal, Social and Emotional Development • Maintain concentration, listen and be excited to learn. • Develop and awareness of their own and others needs. • Form good relationships and work in a group taking turns. • Understand what is right and wrong and why • Manage their own hygiene and dress themselves. • Have a positive self image.

13. How do we deliver this? • Play is a key way in which young children learn with enjoyment and challenge both indoors and outdoors. 16. Early Years Foundation Stage Profile • Forms a reception child’s assessment and end of year report • Assesses children against Early Learning Goals and Characteristics of Effective Learning. • Most children will achieve the Early Learning Goals by the end of their Reception year and be ready to move on to the National Curriculum in Year 1.
