Activity Proposal page updates with the “per diem” doc and the new form (where it is stated that a report is needed in case of participation in a conference): http://www.cosmo-model.org/content/support/activityProposal • WG6 page updated: http://www.cosmo-model.org/content/tasks/workGroups/wg6 • Documentation page updated: http://www.cosmo-model.org/content/model/documentation/core • Updates of the operational pages in progress (det and eps chains): http://www.cosmo-model.org/content/tasks/operational
Collection of reports for the Newsletter in progress • DOI: action in progress • TRs still missing for PP KENDA, PP POMPA, PP CDIC, PP CELO • TR for PPs CORSO-A and SPRED are submitted, will be released (appear at COSMO web) in April 2019
Ines is now in charge of the NWP TS (replacing Andrea) and the work is in progress: • COSMO v5.06 binary is now ready at ECMWF to be tested and compared with v5.05 → hindcast mode only, SP and DP at 7km, only DP at 2.8km (for 1 summer + 1 winter month, with ICs/BCs from ECMWF, soil from ICON-EU) • Ines should implement 3-hourly lateral BCs, because a 6-hrly BCs update based solely on the IFS analyses (that are available only every 6 hrs) is considered insufficient. For the BCs at 3, 9, 15, 21 UTC, 3-h forecasts started from the previous analyses shall be used • Preparation of the ICON-LAM TS should start on ECMWF HPC following the same structure → ICs/BCs from ECMWF, soil from ICON-EU
The PP has a certain delay, ZP suggests to extend it for 6 months (but are 12 months better ?). In the following list the items already completed (in green) and still to be done (in red): • rewritten diffusion operator • Gridtools port of all COSMO-EULAG stencil components, together with elaborate cmake-based serialization package using MeteoSwiss approaches • reference Fortran version of COSMO-EULAG 5.05 based on CEL-ACCEL Fortran codebase (entirely different from CELO development, aiming at facilitated GridTools implementation) • Putting the GridTools code of COSMO-EULAG advection and solver part together, and merging it inside COSMO, based on COSMO-Runge Kutta/GridTools (not available in final form yet) • Testing on GPU machines
