Information • The United States is a federal state in North America, stretching from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean and on some Pacific islands. • The United States is comprised of 50 states, a federal territory with its capital and seat of government and the Congress (Columbia Federal District), and other more or less self-governing territories (Puerto Rico, Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and others).

  4. Demographics • Demographics of the United States is quite varied, since the territory was inhabited mainly by immigrants who came to the United States from around the world. • Since colonization waves have different compositions depending on the country of origin.
