Vietnam War films • Full metal Jacket, Platoon, The Deer Hunter, We Were Soldiers • These movies are depicting Vietnam as the proverbial “death sentence” many men were drafted into the war, and it showed that vietnam was a brutal place if you werent killed, you were usually mortally wounded. These videos did a great job of showing just some of the terrible things our soldiers witnessed. Of course theres always going to be speculation of things being false but in all much is true.

True or False? • There has been a lot of speculation that the validity of the stories told about the Vietnam war in entertainment are false. • Some of the stories are of the monstrosities that are depicted, from the booby traps set up all the way to when the Napalm that was dropped on the jungle. • A lot of the things depicted in the movies are in fact true. According to a lot of sources the things that happened in Vietnam are so awful and are imprinted in the minds of the veterans that risked their lives for their country that they would not want it retold, post dramatic stress disorder is often synonymous with the Vietnam war and with entertainment showing or telling us some of the occurrences that happened we can now see why.

Songs continued.. • A lot of Vietnam veterans are completely forgotten about and never really got any recognition for so much as being a name on the wall of the fallen soldiers of Vietnam, but there were songs that did give credit and showed that some Americans truly were proud of their ultimate sacrifice. From, “50,000 names” by George Jones to “some gave all” by Billy Ray Cyrus telling the story of a Vietnam veteran who is completely forgotten about. • Of course the songs all depicted Americans as the heroes while the vietnamese were portrayed as the villains of the conflict.

  11. In conclusion • The Vietnam war was expressed in so many ways, as you can see. From music played from people such as Bob Dylan , Jimi Hendrix , to the concerts at Woodstock to movies like Forrest Gump , and Full Metal Jacket. The terrors of the war that lasted from Nov. 1st of 1955 until April 30th of 1975 are shown with strong validity in entertainment. • Therefore, Entertainment had a strong impact on the entire nation for this war, because of entertainment this was the first “living room war” which is a regular thing in this day and time, if not for entertainment we would have to go by word of mouth for our information.
