Thinking Maps • Corny “teacher-speak” name for something that most of us do anyway when trying to learn stuff • 8 kinds: • Notes • Yes.. I want you to take notes on how to take notes
Circle Map • Brainstorming • Small circle- topic, larger circle- information
Bubble Map • Works for identifying attributes • Example for S.S.?
Double Bubble • Comparing 2 things • Similar to Venn Diagram, but more isolated and less static (add to it)
Tree Map • Categorization
Flow map • Sequencing information • Apply this to a history example
Bridge Map • Analogies • Relate new information to stuff you already know
Multi-flow map • Cause & effect • There are several causes & effects to peoples’ actions
I don’t care how you take notes • I do care, however THAT you take notes. • Even if the information is “easy”, just add details from my lecture to notes you are taking. • You will have to take notes, no matter how smart you are, in your future… at least if you have a decent career.
TAREA • Use 4, count’em FOUR of the 8 thinking maps to show your understanding of the material. • Don’t spend a lot of time making them look beautiful… just very basic on note the provided W.S.s • I don’t care what you pretend to be taking notes on. (feel free to show me your sense of humor) • Just show me you “get it”
