  2. Our Concept • The purpose of Project Get Active is to get young children actively involved with sports and not a sedentary lifestyle by wasting hours in front of a computer or playing video games

  3. Goals & Objectives • To raise awareness of the 2015 PAM Games in Kitchener, Ontario • To get kids active and help develop an interest in active lifestyle

  4. Our Roles Vs. Actual • SaeedSerbeh: Volleyball Station • Load-in/set up • Provides instruction to the games • To direct the group of students to the next game station • T-shirt giveaway • Strike/ Load-out • ACTUAL: Instructional and supervisor on volleyball and floater on bowling and table tennis. Strike and load out. • Christopher Jugul: Floater 0r Lacrosse Station* • Load-in/set up • Timer – Making shift changes go quick and smooth • Provides instruction to the games • To direct the group of students to the next game station • Ensure students get refreshments • Strike/ Load-out ACTUAL: Instructional and supervisor on table tennis and floater on bowling and volleyball. Strike and load out.

Our Roles vs. Actual • Olga Shanskaia: Floater & Refreshments • Set up • Provides instruction to the games • To direct the group of students to the next game station • Ensure students get refreshments • T-shirt giveaway • Strike • ACTUAL: Signage, instructional and supervisor on all three sports. Strike and load out. • ZhannaDalbenka: Table Tennis Station • Set up • Provides instruction to the games • To direct the group of students to the next game station • Ensure students get refreshments • Strike • ACTUAL: Signage, photography, instructional and supervisor on all three sports. Actual • Mark Pettigrew: Bowling Station • Load-in/set up • Introduces Kreative Solutions Agency • Explains the value of the Project Get Active and promotes IGNITE program • Provides instruction to the games • To direct the group of students to the next game station • Strike/ Load-out • ACTUAL: Load-in/set up of table tennis, and projector. Assisted in bowling set-up. • M.C. and host to students, intro’s of Pan-Am athlete and head supervisor and time monitor of activities.

OUR STRENGTHS • Solid concept • Prominent planning Skills (idea, venue, scheduling and staff) • Built-in attendees: captive audience • Ability to create an exciting environment for students and staff of Westheights Public School • Sufficient décor and branding (IGNITE/PAN AM Games and Seneca College: signage, staff shirts, banners, projector PPT) • Solid networking and support: Venue, Sponsors, School staff • Acquiring PAN AM Athlete – Mandy Bujold • Great teamwork amongst Kreative Solutions and Volunteers • Volunteer staff assistance: High quality and quantity • Avoided excessive budget: appropriate in-kind support

OUR WEAKNESSES • Sponsorship restrictions set by IGNITE • No Mascot • Bowling Station took a lot of energy and time to reset every time a student bowled • Traffic and weather issues! • Did not create awareness of Parapan-Am Games • Late arrivals led to late set-up time: weather! • Athlete could only stay half the day

FEEDBACK FROM SENIOR STAFF • Great event and great concept • Logistics of event flowed well • Groups meetings were very productive • Students would’ve love to see PACHI • Volunteers were great help • Able to work on the fly and think of solutions • Lack of resources and recognition from IGNITE

LEARNING opportunities: • Interactive key speaker, Mandy Bujold, is extremely inspiring for audience members and proves a great experience. • Attempt to secure additional athletes and mascot, and establish full-day athlete attendance • Look at traffic reports • Our Event can become movement implemented in other high schools, building momentum to the 2015 games.
