Polish Chamber of Commerce for High Technology IZTECH KET – KeyEnabling Technologies – futuretechnologies:essentialcomponents of the Europeaneconomy biotechnology advanced materials & advance manufacturing systems photonics nanotechnology micro- and nanoelectronics • EuropeanCommissionleads the followingactions: • analysis of the competitive& research capacity of the Member States re. the opportunities for a development and use of KETs in the Europaneconomy, • overview of the current policy frameworks for identifying regulationsand initiatives useful for the future development of KET in the EU, • adoption of commonguidelines for the European strategy for KETs development.

Polish Chamber of Commerce for High Technology IZTECH EC initiatives for developing the EU strategy for KETs. • High-Level Expert Group on KETs [established by the EC on 2010] – Final Report – recommendations for the EC: • implementation of the common KETs development strategy is of a great importance for the EU, • analysis of the competitive level for each of the identified KET’s areas, • identification of the future KET-based economic sectors with the greatest impact for the competitiveness and innovativeness of the EU. • Expert Working Group on KETs [established by the EC on 2012] – identification of the potential measures and instruments for a development of KETs in the futureEU economy – indication of barriers: • loss of the knowledge capital for non-European regions (scientists migrations& commercialization of the R&D results outside the EU), • lack of the common technology policy in the EU - the variety of regulations andstandards(further fragmentation of the European Research Area), • lack of the social understanding of the importance of KETs in the EU (legal & institutionalenvironment). IZTECH represents Poland in the Expert Working Group on KETs.

Polish Chamber of Commerce for High Technology IZTECH IZTECH represents Poland in the Expert Working Group on KETs. • Expert Working Group on KETs – several key recommendations for the EC: • implementation & funding of the future programmes directed for KETs deployment under the EU financial perspective 2014-2020, • strengthening the participation of the SME’s sector in the UE KET-related market, • redefinition of the purpose of medium- and long-term public policies, • development of the lead markets (incl. technological niches), • programmes and budgets integration - implementation of the large pilot and demonstration projects, • common European patent and litigation system, • greater access to the venture capitals, • support for the regional clusters and networks of cooperation, • funding the local innovation centers (incl. R&D great laboratories; further increase of the competitiveness of the EU regions), • wider introduction of the pre-commercial public procurements.

5. Polish Chamber of Commerce for High Technology IZTECH IZTECH supports innovative Polish companies in the area of KETs. Project for increasing the deployment and importance of KETs in Polish industry: Title: „Development and implementation of the advisory services programme for the KET-related enterprises in a range of the knowledge management.” under: Project isfunded by • IZTECH Advisory Services Programme : • directed for the needs of the SME’s sector, • an expert (advisory) support is provided by IZTECH for the entrepreneurs that: • run KET-related R&D projects, • implement R&D results, • manufacture KET-related products and provide KET-based services, • advisory services may be provided as e.g.: • technology and businessconsulting, • advisory service on the management & organization. • entrepreneur receives advisory services free of charge (within the de minimisaid), • up to now there have been app. 70 advisory services granted by IZTECH, • 500 advisory services are expected to be granted till the end of 2013.
