  2. What is an endangered species? • a species whose numbers are so small that the species is at risk of extinction • Thousands of animals are, or soon will be extinct • THIS IS NOT FUNNY! DO NOT LAUGH!

  3. What Causes a species to go endangered? • Pollution • Disease • Competition • Predation • Killing Beluga Whale Tasmanian Devil THE GREATEST CAUSE OF SPECIES BEING ENDANGERED IS HABITAT LOSS

  4. Poaching An African lion in Queen Elizabeth National Park. • unlawful hunting of a meticulous species or capturing an animal to use as pets or for features that that animal may have. Example is elephants tusks

  5. Popular endangered species around the world

  6. Panda • As human population increases, they lose apart of their habitat. Bamboo is also becoming scarce in most areas where pandas are located. Poaching still occurs with these pandas.

  7. Gray Wolf • Hunting in the continental united states has limited this animals population • The only population of gray wolves that are not endangered are located in the Great Lakes region

  8. African Elephants • Habitat loss is one of the key threats facing elephants. Increasing conflict with human populations taking over more and more elephant habitat and poaching for ivory are additional threats that are placing the elephant’s future at risk.

  9. Why save an endangered species? • Plants and animals hold medicinal, agricultural, and ecological value. • Endangered species must be protected and saved so that in the future we all can experience their value to everyone. • 40 percent of all prescriptions written are composed from the natural compounds of different species.

  10. Conclusion • In conclusion, we have concluded that there are way too many animals that are endangered all over the world. • One of the most significant ways to help vulnerable plants and animals survive is to care for their habitats permanently in national parks, nature reserves or wilderness areas. They can live without too much intrusion from humans.
