1. The WildCare Trust was set up in 2005, it had a goal in sight which is to protect animals throughout the world to be saved from extinction. 2. Snow Leopard, Asia, is endangered due to Hunting. Hunters are selfish and kill this endangered mammal for their fur. Although selling snow leopard fur is illegal, it is on-going and continues, threatening the snow leopard's existence. An estimated 3,000-10,000 are left in the wild. Most common threats are: • Poaching for the fur trade • loss of habitat caused by deforestation and dam projects • loss of food sources • Changing environmental conditions. • Adopt a snow leopard today to conserve them for future generations! Leopard Seals, Antarctica. The only natural predators that Leopard Seals have are some species of sharks and most commonly, killer whales. There aren’t high amounts left of Leopard Seals which is why conservation efforts for them exist. There are approximately 250,000 of themin the world but this is dramatically decreasing due to Climate Change, the ice is melting and the Leopard Seals have nowhere to beech. Adopt a leopard seal today to help save the forever decreasing population! Meerkats, commonly located in South Africa are endangered due to loss of habitat and deforestation. The meerkat lives in the savannah and grasslands and extensive deforestation has led to them being over hunted and eaten by birds such as eagles, and has left them at risk. Climate Change: • Rising temperatures and rising sea levels as ice sheets and glaciers melt • Droughts, heat waves, severe storms, floods, higher chances of bush fires and changes in rain fall patterns. • Permanent damage to important and vulnerable eco systems such as coral reefs, alpine areas and rainforests. • As climate patterns change this will have bad impacts on plants, animals and humans as habitats and lives will be destroyed. • Deforestation: • ½ of the world’s forests have already been cleared or burned • 80% of the remaining forests have been seriously degraded. • We lose 147 plants and animals everyday due to deforestation • Anmals and plants contiunally lose their habitats each day, the species number for every animal will start to decrease hugely • Hunting: • 200 million animals are hunted each year • Hunting disrupts hibernation, migration of animals. • Many endangered animals, e.g. snow leopards are being hunted for their fur, even though it is illegal • Over the next 100 years, animal populations throughout the world will decrease dramatically.
