Jackal (Canis aureus) Current population aprox. 1500 They live in Chalkidiki, Samos, Peloponisos and Thraki
Red deer (Cervus elaphus) • Cervus elaphus (Kokkino Elafi) lives in Rodopi and Parnitha • It is the biggest vegetarian animal in Greece • WWF protect those species
Brown bear (Ursus arctos) • In Greece there are about 150 brown bears in life • They live in Rodopi’s and Pindo’s mountains • ARKTOS protect this endangered animal
Mediterranean monk seal (Monachus monachus) • Half of the seals worldwide live in greek seas • They can live approximately 40 years • WWf organization protect these species
Sea turtle (Caretta caretta) • Caretta Caretta generates 120 eggs every summer • In Greece Zakinthos island is the place where it bear its eggs • It lives 80 years
Dolphin • In Greece we can find only 9 dolphins out of 32 worldwide • It is the most favorite mammal for greeks
Mafrogipas (Aegypius monachus) • This specie does not immigrates • There are 90-100 species in Greece • Mafrogipas is protected by WWF
Chamois(Rupicapra rupicapra balcanica) • Males live alone, except the breeding season • Hunters are forbidden to hunt Chamois • WWF protect them
Plants-introduction • White peony • Red lily ( Lilium chalcedonicum) • Red tulip • Ebony's Sibthorp
White peony (Aspri peonia) • There are 5 different kinds of peony in Greece • We found the in mountains • The flowering season lasts all spring
Red lily ( Lilium chalcedonicum) • It has 4 very small populations in Parnitha • They are very endangered species
Red tulip • It grows in meadows and fields of low and medium altitude • Now thought to have disappeared from the mountain
Ebony’s sibthorp • Endemic to Southeast Greece • Found a small population in the area of Thrakomakedonon
