Service Standards for Standard Mail Destination Entry • DBMC 5 Days to Delivery • DSCF 3 Days to Delivery • DDU 2 Days to Delivery
Color Coding • Supports service standards • Matches a specific color to a day of the week • Guides the sequence for mail processing, dispatch and delivery
Color Code Policy • New policy issued June 17, 2008 • Nationwide implementation required no later than August 29, 2008 • Compliance audits scheduled between August 29 and September 30, 2008

General Principles • Delivery color codes are based on destination entry, day and time of receipt • 16:00 is national critical entry time (CET) for palletized shipments • 12:00 is national CET for bedloads • Day 0 reflects day of arrival • Holidays will not change application of color codes
General Principles • Redirected drop shipments retain service standard of original destination entry • 3 day service for SCF redirected to BMC • 2 day service for DDU redirected to SCF • Standard Mail will be delivered according to committed day of delivery indicated by color code
In-Home Dates • PLEASE DELIVER TUES 8/12 • Requested In Home 8/22 - 8/23/08 • Postmaster: please deliver between 9/4 - 9/6
In-Home Dates • Printed request on mailpiece for delivery on specific day(s) • Postal Service will continue to honor IHDs • No standardized IHD requirements in DMM • Mailpieces lose IHD identity during processing • IHD mail will not be warehoused
In-Home Dates • Mailers will manage IHDs by aligning drop shipments and service standards • Identify targeted date of delivery • Schedule FAST appointment linking entry and CET • IHDs should be 3 days or less • Plan delivery on the second day of a 2-day window • Plan delivery on the second day of a 3-day window • Plan delivery within the first 3 days of IHD windows exceeding 3-days
