What does deficient, perfect, and abundant mean?! A proper factor is all the factors of a number besides itself. The desert is deficient of water. When a number is deficient that means that the sum of its proper factors is LESS than itself. Deficient: Shortage of something, less amount. When a number is perfect that means that the sum of its proper factors is EQUAL to itself. Perfect: Exact or equal amount of something Abundant: A lot of something, a greater amount When a number is abundant that means that the sum of its proper factors is GREATER than itself. The forest is abundant with trees.
