Parts of the Plot • Exposition - The first part of the story, in which the writer gives background information, introduces the setting, and the characters.
Parts of the Plot • Rising action - In this part of the story, the main character encounters problems (conflicts) and tries to solve them. This is the largest part of the story.
Parts of the Plot • Climax - This is the most exciting part of the story. It is where they finally reach the major decision, event, or fight. This is the turning point of the story. It’s what you’ve been waiting for.
Falling Action - The story draws to a close and all of the different parts start to come together. Short.
Resolution - The ending where all of the loose ends are tied up and everything makes sense.
