Nonconsumptive Needs Assessment Committee Work • Identify and map recreational and environmental attributes • Develop recreational and environmental attributes categories for prioritization • Map recommended prioritization of recreational and environmental attributes • Recommend request for Arkansas Basin participation in HB1400 funded Watershed Flow Evaluation Tool pilot project • Identify available quantification and threats to attributes • Recommend quantification needs for recreational and environmental attributes • Identify high priority recreational and environmental needs in Arkansas Basin

Arkansas Basin Deliverables and Schedule • Maps of identified recreational and environmental attributes – draft complete February 2008 • Maps of recommended prioritization of recreational and environmental attributes – draft complete February 2008 • Results from pilot project and recommendation about Tool use in Arkansas Basin – pending approvals (projected pilots complete by September 2008) • Recommendations on quantification needs for recreation and environmental attributes – November 2008 • High priority recreational and environmental needs identification

  9. Glossary/Terminology • Attribute – data used to describe a feature. In this case environmental or recreational features in a basin. • Hydrologic Unit – a 4-level heirarchial classification of hydrological drainage basins in the U.S. • Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC) – a unique 2-8 digit code used to identify each hydrologic unit. • GIS – a system for capturing, storing, managing, and analyzing spatial information.
