What is CPD? • Process of lifelong learning that enables us to maintain, build and develop our knowledge, skills and behaviours – as a person, & as employee, & CSP member • Outcomes-based approach to CPD – show how learning changes my practice • Any activity/experience could become a learning opportunity…depending on how I use it Why not watch the short video pod-casts on CSP’s website for more information?

Recording my learning • Format depends on nature of learning opportunity & my personal preferences for recording information; • Record should provide enough information for me to show how a learning opportunity links to my current/future practice (issues around confidentiality/data protection); • Dated (when learning took place, when record created & when learning was/will be evaluated); • Easy to access/stored securely

Qualities of a portfolio • a set of data (evidence & information) collated by an individual that provides evidence of their behaviours, knowledge, & skills • evidence can be developed from a range of learning experiences: formal ↔ informal • personal • flexible content/presentation–to reflect interests/requirements of the audience Sample portfolios are available to read in the CPD webfolio
