  2. 2007 initiative • USGS initiated a review of opportunities in 2007 for closer coordination among CEOS, WMO Space Programme and CGMS • Recommendations were presented to 2007 Plenary

  3. 2007 initiative • Ensure awareness of Calendars • Combined events as appropriate • Annual meetings among top-level representatives of CEOS, WMO SP, and CGMS with the aim of: reviewing the adequacy of the coordination arrangements and to propose further actions as other areas of common interest emerge; information exchange.

  4. 2007 initiative • CEOS represented on the RSSC-CM Executive Panel (CEO attended) • The CEO maintain regular communication and coordination with WMO SP: work relating to GCOS, the WMO GOS, and the GEOSS.

  5. Recent events • Barbara Ryan the new Head of WMO Space • CGMS, CEOS, WMO Space side meeting at CEOS Plenary on Monday 10th November

  6. Side meeting • Recognised some progress between CEOS and CGMS on issues of GSICS and R/SSC-CM • Agreed that CEOS and CGMS have different scopes & approaches but that opportunities remain for improved coordination

  7. Way forward • Incoming CEOS Chair has agreed to study further in 2009 the opportunities and obstacles for increased coordination among CEOS, CGMS and WMO Space • A small task force to facilitate progress with representatives from all 3 bodies • Working from the 2007 recommendations as a baseline • GISTDA accepts the action and will contact relevant agencies
