James Naismith James invented basketball, the whole sport. He was just a regular American-Canadian sports coach. He studied physical education. He also studied medicine during time of coaching basketball. He coached a university team. James Naismith’s most important invention was basketball because it was his only invention. He invented Basketball in 1891. First when he invented it they played with a soccer ball. And the nets were closed so they had retrieve the ball from the basket every time someone scored. He was born in Canada in 1861. When he was nine years old his mom and dad died so he went to live with his uncle on a farm.
Ruth Wakefield • She grew up to be a dietician and food lecturer after graduating. With her husband she bought a tourist lodge named the Toll House Inn where she made all the meals. • She decided to make cookies with melted chocolate when she didn’t have any melted chocolate any more she put chocolate inside, she thought it would melt in the oven. But then she invented chocolate chip cookies accidently. • She accidently invented them in 1903. It became very popular. She signed a contract with Nestle. She also wrote her own cook book.
