Mastery Re-teach/Retest • After preparing/studying for a summative assessment, if a student earns a 69% (D) or below, he/she will be given one opportunity to show mastery of the standards by preparing for and retaking a different test over the same material/standards. The purpose of this opportunity is to give students more instructional time to master the standards. Retesting Procedure • Any student meeting the criteria described above will be given an opportunity to retest. The student’s final grade on the summative assessment will be an average of the two assessments. For example, if a child scores a 65% on the first assessment and a 90% on the second assessment, the child’s final score, recorded in the grade book, will be 77.5%. This makes the grading equitable and valid for those students needing additional time to master grade level objectives.
