MENALIB - current scope • MENAcontents 250 periodical titles, 60.000 articles (ToC, Roman and Arabic scripts) • SSG-OLC 270 periodical titles, 170.000 articles (ToC, Roman script) • MENAconferences ca. 180 conferences and workshops related to ME studies • ALMISBAH 3.500 web pages cataloged • Cataloging conference papers and article collections (since 05/05) ca. 1.000 volumes with 11.000 papers and articles cataloged (ToC) Roman script

Open access to electronic fulltextdocuments • Collect information on free online resources from the WWW (a) Harvesting - OAI PMH (if respective metadata are available) or (b) intellectual search – ULB Halle collects and catalogs free ME-related fulltext resources in MENALIB • Generate electronic fulltext materials and provide free access to them

  5. Digitization projects at ULB Halle • Turkish studies library of Prof. Jacob M. Landau (384 titles / 52.000 images) • Periodicals of the German Oriental Society (4 journals with 260 volumes / 132.000 images) • Digitzation initiative of German Research Foundation (DFG) : materials of Special Subject Collections (SSG) – ULB Halle – proposal to digitze 3.500 ME-related titles / ca. 1. Mio. images • Ponickau collection 9.621 titels / 600.000 images including 17. century materials relevant for ME and Islamic studies

Digitization of Landau collection • Collection focused on the history of modern Turkey between 1950 and 1980 • 3000 monographic titles – predominantly grey literature and 200 volumes of periodicals • purchased in 2003 • cataloging project 12/2005 – 03/2008 • digitization started 09/2006 with 300 titles including OCR (16.000 images)
