  11. State Competency Test #310 THE REQUIRED PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES ARE: 1. Identify 4 personal values and explain how these values impact behavior and choices. (ARR 1.2) 2. Set, implement and evaluate progress on one short-term goal that is necessary to complete the long-term goal. (ARR 1.3) 3. Demonstrate the ability to use two constructive communication skills. (ARR 2.1) 4. Set personal rules/responsibilities related to dating behaviors that support personal values. (ARR 3.2) 5. Develop a personal list of characteristics, qualities, and values desired in a marriage partner. (ARR 4.1) 6. Describe your personal values and beliefs of marriage.(ARR 4.1) 7. Develop a realistic monthly budget, based upon a set income, to include: savings, housing, utilities, transportation, insurance, clothing, entertainment, and misc. categories. (ARR 5.1) 8. Apply positive guidance techniques to resolve three child-rearing problems.(ARR 7.5)

WHAT IS PERSONALITY? •  More than just an “attitude,” it is what causes you to act and react the way you do. •  It is a code of behavior that watches over and guards you telling you how to conduct yourself based on your values and beliefs. • – like a parent •  It marks our paths and points us in a particular direction making us feel uncomfortable when we deviate from its assigned route •  It explains us to ourselves. •  Many traits were inherited from your parents and others you acquire. • Acquire ones that will help you become a more useful and happy person. •  The wise person accepts responsibility for personality characteristics.

  17. JELLY BEANS Wouldn’t it be nice if we looked at people and jellybeans and liked them all? We didn’t just choose the people that we thought were pretty or smart, or ate just the red or black jelly beans because they were our favorites, but realized that people and jelly beans come in a variety and we can enjoy something about each one and like them for what they are. Get into a group with people who have your same color of jelly Bean Read over the color’s personality profile and discuss its accuracy.
