The Art and Science of Teaching The Impetus In 2010, WPS district administrators and school improvement team members finalized the district’s five-year plan to improve student achievement. We had to change the way we did business.

Do: Keep the observing group small Observe only 10-15 minutes Focus on Marzano elements Reflect as a group after observation Participate at least once a quarter Don’t: Evaluate colleague Share information outside of the group

Staff members were given their own copy of the district’s evaluation form and encouraged to reflect and rate themselves by Oct 1.
Staff members will be encouraged to use their copy of the evaluation form as a journal; principal and teacher will review after each observation.
