  3. PENGOLAHAN limbahcairdomestik Berdasarkantempatnya, dibedakanmenjadi 2: 1. Sistempengolahan on-site position  sistemdimanapenghasillimbahmengolah air limbahnyasecaraindividu. 2. Sistem off-site position  air limbahdisalurkanmelalui sewer (saluranpengumpul air limbah) lalukemudianmasukkeinstalasipengolahanterpusat.

  4. Prinsip Septic tank: a. Tersedianya bak penampung utk memisahkan bhn padatan; krn pd proses biologis tingkat pertama terjadi pembusukan bahan2 solid yg mengendap o/ bakteri pembusuk anaerobic. Bak penampung ini memberi kesempatan menahan air kotor dan bahan2 sedimen selama 24 jam. b. Ruang rembesan, adl kompartemen yg diisi lapisan kerikil, pasir halus, tanah liat campur pasir, ijuk, dan ditengahnya dialirkan saluran pipa, terjadi proses biologis tingkat 2, yakni penguraian bahan yg tersisa oleh bakteri aerobic.

  10. Grease trap Berfungsi utk memisahkan air dengan minyak, menggunakan proses fisik yang memanfaatkan bj minyak yg lebih kecil dr air. Biasanya digunakan pada awal waste water treatment plant / IPAL. Minyak dpt menggangu proses biologis pada pengolahan limbah yg memanfaatkan mikroorganisme, melapisi filter, screen dan pompa. Untuk pengolahan limbah cair domestik, grease trap bermanfaat utk mencegah minyak menutupi permukaan air badan air.
