3 PATHWAYS TO CMI CHARTERED MANAGER STATUS Currently, there are three routes to achieving CMI Chartered Manager status. The route you choose is dependent on your qualification and management experience. Let’s know each of the three routes one by one. Route 1: Full Assessment: To be eligible for the Full Assessment route, you either need a degree-level qualification that is business, management or leadership focused and 3 years of experience in a management role. Or, At a minimum of 5 years of management experience (equal to Level 5 or operational/senior management level) if without a management-specific qualification. How to register? To register, you must reach the team via cmgr@managers.org.uk to ask for registration and arrange payment. What’s the cost and what’s involved? You will fill up a written application summarizing your leadership and management journey to date and showcasing some of your major attainments. After that, you will be introduced to one of CMI’s independent Chartered Manager assessors. They will fix an online professional discussion with you to learn more about your application, which will be an opportunity for you to bring your experiences and skills to life.
When you have ended the professional discussion, the evaluator will review both elements of your application and let you know the outcome. All this will cost £650+VAT (plus ongoing annual membership fee where applicable) What paperwork do you need to submit? You need to complete and submit the CMI application template for assessment, which is dependent on the method you have chosen. Route: 2: Fast Track You can choose this route if you have A CMI Diploma qualification, which is at level 5 or above and a minimum of 3 years of work experience in a management role. For registration, you must reach the team via cmgr@managers.org.uk to ask for registration and for an invoice to be given to you. How much does it cost, and what is involved? This pathway for the CMI Chartered Manager status builds on the completion of the CMI Diploma qualification and offers a fast-track assessment process taking into consideration your prior learning with CMI. It will cost you £130 + VAT and membership fees where applicable. The required paperwork you need to submit: You need to complete and submit for assessment by means of the CMI application template. Route 3: Apprenticeship: You choose this pathway if you are completing EndPoint Assessment (EPA) by means of CMI for one of these apprenticeship standards and have related management experience: Level 5 Operations/Department Manager Level 6 CMDA Level 7 SLMDA You are not required to register for the CMI Chartered Manager status. What is involved and what’s the cost? The Chartered Manager CMI evaluation criteria have been built into the CMI assessment at EPA.
