  2. Part 1: Classroom Assessment (QIWK)—Background • Classroom: Ms. Winters • Number of students: 13 • QIWK Lists: levels 3,4,5 • How is spelling taught in class: Spelling is taught through vocabulary words they learn in other subjects. While in the classroom I found that my class did not focus very much on spelling when they really needed to. Some children definitely excelled while others were far behind.

  3. Part 1: QIWK Findings—Rank Order Table

  4. Part 1: QIWK Findings—Word Study Grouping

  5. Part 2: Individual Assessment –Background • Kid’s name: Stephen • Grade: 1st Grade • Sex: Male • Other info: • Behavior Problems • Tough time trying to focus

  6. Part 2: Individual Assessment –Passage Reading Findings Instructional Level: Pre-Primer 2 Gray Scale Level: Primer Frustration Level: 1-2

  7. Part 2: Individual Assessment –Observations • Stephen has a tough time focusing while doing his reading excerpts. It was helpful for him to use his finger to point to each word as he read the part of the story. • He gave up easily if the word seemed difficult, he also questioned himself when reading words he had already read aloud to me without any trouble which I found interesting. • I know that we were not supposed test if they were unable to score over a 90%, but when I made the mistake of doing so. He scored higher…I don’t understand why this would happen??
