I used to have an English teacher when I was in the college. He was very tall and handsome. I can still remember how enthusiastic and energetic he was in his class. He taught us English and American literature. He liked collecting a lot of literature works for us. Sometimes he would tell us stories himself. He was a very good story teller. A lot of us admired him because he could speak very fluent American English. We all practiced imitating him after class. He always tried to avoid making us feel embarrassed in his class. And he said he enjoyed being with his students who could make him feel young. And all his students enjoyed listening to his stories, too.
Tell us who he / she is! • Preparation: • Choose one of your teachers in the text and find out: • what characters the new teacher has (amusing, energetic, funny, intelligent, kind, lively …) • what he / she enjoys doing in his class • what he / she likes doing after class • how the students behave in his / her class • how the students think about him / her • whether you are confident with him / her
Game time! The whole class is divided into two teams: Team A and Team B. Now one student in Team A stands in the front of the class (as Target Student). And the students in Team B can ask questions in turns so as to get to know which teacher he / she has chosen. If their guesses are right, the student in Team A will go back and a student of Team B will come to the front. And Team B will win one point. If their guesses are wrong, Team A will win one point.
Rules to follow in the game: • Each student is allowed to ask only two questions. • The rest of the Team will not repeat the questions which have been asked. • The game goes on until no more questions can be raised. • The Target Student can refuse to answer “stupid” questions: • How old is the teacher? • Is the teacher a man or a woman? • What is his / her family name? • What does he / she teach?
The target student is encouraged to answer the questions in full sentences. • If a stupid question is asked, the student will waste one question and his / her team will lose one point.
One of the students can come to the front of the classroom. He / she may begin to introduce the teacher without mentioning his / her name or obvious information. The rest of the class can be divided into two teams: Team A and Team B. As the Target student says, anyone of the two teams can guess who the teacher is. But it they are wrong, their team will lose two points. If they are right, they may get one point.
