  4. Bexhill Hastings Link Road • Construction started early 2013 • Completed Spring 2015 • Unlocks up to 2,000 new homes and 50,000sqm of employment space • Creates 3,000 jobs • Complimentary Measures

  5. A27 Feasibility Improvement Study • Study scope: Pevensey to Portsmouth • Lewes - Polegate identified as priority for intervention • Identified range of options to address issues • Assessing deliverability, affordability & value for money

  8. Rail • New super franchise: Govia Thameslink • Commenced September 2014 • Southern services integrated July 2015 • South East area: Sussex Route Study • High Speed Rail to Bexhill and Hastings

  9. High Speed Rail • Good business case for running High Speed Rail to Bexhill and Hastings • Network Rail undertaking technical work • ESCC, HBC & RDC commissioned economic assessment to support business case • Delivery 2019 – 2024?

  10. Aviation • Airports Commission • Interim report end 2013 • Second runway at Gatwick shortlisted • National consultation this autumn • Final report summer 2015

Local Transport Infrastructure • Developing proposals for Hailsham –Eastbourne sustainable transport corridor • Consulted on proposals for Hailsham town centre package • Uckfield town centre package: Phase 1 on site; Phases 2 & 3 – starts next year • Eastbourne Terminus Road improvements • Linking Communities Fund: Ringmer – Lewes Phase 2

  12. Local Sustainable Transport Fund • Station Street improvements, Lewes • Station Forecourt, Lewes • A259 Newhaven – Peacehaven cycle route • Eastbourne cycle routes • Real Time Passenger Information

Strategic Economic Plan & Local Growth Deal • Multi-year growth strategy for the LEP area • Specifically sets out growth plans for East Sussex • Infrastructure required to unlock growth – link to LTP & Local Plan infrastructure priorities • Over £67m for East Sussex • Significant proportion on transport infrastructure • Augmented by funding from other sources • Freedoms and flexibilities – Highways Agency and Network Rail
