Design to PreventNot Facilitate Climbing(See Appendix) (See A-3.3.1.18.(4)(a)) • Proposed Change: • required guards shall be designed so that no member, attachment or opening will facilitate climbing • except for • industrial occupancies • where location and size of openings do not present a hazard to pre-school aged children • less than 1.8 meter drop between surfaces • inside dwelling units • No deemed-to-comply spec’s

Illustrated Guide – Part 9 • Editorial Principles for The Guide • is not a stand-alone document • is to be used in conjunction with the code • does not repeat information provided in the code • cross-reference rather than duplicate code tables • provides supplemental information • addresses cross-sectional subjects in separate chapters (e.g. lateral loads, secondary suites) • will be updated in sync with future code editions
