What is Let’s Move Child Care? • I Am Moving I Am Learning developed to address obesity in childhood in response to the Let’s Move Campaign • Let’s Move Child Care developed from the Head Start experience and focused to community child care • First train-the-trainer for Let’s Move Child Care September 2011 in Region X
What is Let’s Move Child Care Goals • Physical Activity – 1-2 hr.s/day and outside play daily • Screentime – None for kids under 2 yrs. And only ½ hr./week for others. • Food – Serve Fruits, vegetables, and no fried foods family style • Beverages – More water/ fewer sugar sweetened drinks • Infant Feeding – Support for breastfeeding infants and mothers
What is Let’s Move Child Care • Planning tools and resources and guidelines for best practices. • Posters, nutrition and activity vocabulary, music, activity and meal planning tools, tip sheets, directions for making play materials • Motor skills observation and evaluation tools, infant feeding guidelines, tips for adjusting • for individual kids’ needs. • Focus on self-care with good nutrition and activity, fun at work!
