  2. Interviews & Introductions • Choose a partner • Write down their answers. • Ask as many questions as you can. • Introduce your partner to the class. Give the answers to 2-3 of the questions s/he answered. • Classmates will be on the quiz next week.

  3. Why is college important? What sets a college grad apart? • Tells prospective employers you have the ability to start a project and complete it. • Exposes you to basic knowledge in different areas of life so you don't have to relearn everything someone else has already learned. • Gives you a foundation on which to build in order to develop your potential to the fullest.

  4. My Teaching Style Student-Centered Learning: Rigorous, Meaningful, Effective • Affective Filter – what stops you from learning? • How do you learn? Thinking about how you think = Metacognition • Andragogy – the study of teaching adults • Theory – The person doing the most work in the classroom is the person learning the most.

Diagnostic Essay • You will now have 45 minutes to complete a short essay (minimum 3-5 paragraphs) • MLA format (10 points), completing assignment (40 points) • Follow instructions on the handout. • Submit to http://healdlogin.com or http://www.turnitin.com • You will need to see me, we will set it up with your preferred email address (that will be your log in)

  10. Syllabus Scavenger Hunt • Groups, partners or individually 1 per group. • Use the syllabus and your notes to find the answers to the Scavenger Hunt. • Check your answers with Instructor • The first group to complete the entire Scavenger Hunt (correctly) will win a prize.
