Statistics of child labour • More than 200 million children today are child labourers. • 73 million of these children are below 10 years old. • Most children work on farms that produce consumer products such as cocoa, coffee and other crops. • 20 million child workers are employed in factories that make garments, carpets, toys, matches and hand-rolled cigarettes. Child labour in India • NGOs of India say the real figure of child labour in India is up to 60 million. • Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh have the highest child labour rate. • India has 1,26,66,377 child labourers of which UP has 19,27,997 child labourers.
